Restoration, resilience, and recreation

ENHANCING LANDS AND WATERS WHILE BUILDING YOUR LASTING LEGACY OF STEWARDSHIP

  • Jason Miller co-founded Miller Recreational Development, Inc. in 2007 to fulfill his passion for conserving and restoring the lands and waters of the west.

Jason guides projects with a highly creative, innovative approach, executed with his signature down-to-earth, hardworking ethos. Combining a masterful understanding of natural ecology and geomorphology with decades of practical construction expertise, he can see the specific challenge and then identify a clear path to achieving environmentally sound, aesthetically beautiful solutions.

Jason has played a critical role in the innovative planning and successful implementation of nearly 65 miles of stream and river restoration, over 100 private ponds and lakes, and numerous large irrigation infrastructure projects.

Trusted by a diversity of clients in the private, public, and nonprofit realms, Jason works closely with talented and visionary partners to bring complex, grand-scale projects to successful fruition. Jason has extensive experience in all aspects of aquatic restoration projects including design, permitting, cost estimation, budget tracking, client correspondence, project management, surveying, water quality monitoring, and equipment operation. His outside-the-box mindset, backed by unparalleled knowledge, experience, and creative vision, enables him to design and achieve projects that are epic in scale, scope, and nuance. He leads by example, providing the highest level of service and expecting only the best from himself and his team.

Jason grew up on a cattle ranch on the Ruby River in southwest Montana, where he found his passion for fishing, aquatic habitats, and Western landscapes and experienced firsthand the importance of conservation. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as a Reconnaissance Marine. When not up to his knees in a creek or working on some other aspect of the project, Jason can be found either chasing permit with his fly rod or flying his Carbon Cub in the backcountry.

  • Led by a lifelong love for nature and wide-open spaces, Katie Berg takes great pride in being part of MRD’s habitat restoration work. As Controller, she is appreciated by colleagues and clients alike for her upbeat energy and effectiveness. Katie draws from a wealth of experience to plan, organize, and facilitate smooth operations, project management, and accounting. She ensures the organic quality of the MRD approach and vision is supported by firm organizational substance, proactive management, and clear communication.

Katie grew up in rural North Dakota working on the family grain farm. She moved to Bozeman to attend MSU and eventually joined MRD, applying her accounting background to running the company office and supporting the field teams’ needs. Her work was soon defined by a newfound devotion to the unique aquatic restoration work that benefits habitats as well as the people that love the land. Katie thrives in the midst of complex, swift-moving projects, confidently multitasking and embracing new challenges with a solution-focused mindset. She spends her weekends in her woodshop, painting, and riding horses with her daughter, Kolt, along with their exuberant dog.
